History of Glass and Things
Tim Young worked at the Canterbury Cathedral from 21st November 1988 - 5th March 2001 working at various locations including Windsor Castle, Lambeth Palace, Knole House, Archbishops Palace and obviously the Cathedral at his precincts, most noticeably the chapter house windows and the great oculist to name but a few.
After being made redundant in March 2001, Tim worked for a number of small glazing companies but still had an ambition to own his own business.
After consulting with a long time friend, Glass and Things was born. The things being anything in glass. It all started in the garage and the first major commission was Vine Cottage, a large farmhouse consisting of 15 rooms where all leaded lights were remove, re-leaded and then re-fitted.
Glass and Things then moved to Wealden Forest Park, Herne, where it has again moved from unit to unit gradually growing each time they moved.
The commissions have also grown in size, from small front door panels to St. Pancras Train Station, London.
No job is too small or too big.
